About Contrast Checker
See whether a text color stands out clearly against its background, with contrast results for normal and large text.
How to use it
- Enter the text and background colors as three- or six-digit HEX values.
- Run the tool to calculate the contrast ratio and show a preview.
- Review the AA and AAA results for the text size you intend to use.
Good to know
- Results apply to opaque, flat colors. Images, gradients, transparency and surrounding visual context are not evaluated.
- Large text means at least 18 pt, or 14 pt bold. A contrast pass alone does not establish that a page meets every accessibility requirement.
